Dona Vitoria Premium Tinto 2018 - Dona Vitoria (Alentejo, Portugal)
The grapes Syrah, Aragones and Trincadeira are planted in a clay / limestone mix and combine to produce a very soft, elegant, modern-styled, delightfully fruity wine. Complex it isn’t; juicy, fresh, clean, original and incredibly easy to drink, it most certainly is. Original, unadulterated & perfect for summer.
Chateau d'Oupia 'Tradition' AC 2018 - André Iché (Minervois)
A superb Minervois made from Syrah, old vine Carignan & Grenache. The Syrah gives the wine its sweetness, the Grenache the spice and the Carignan its structure. The combination is super. The tannins are soft, supple, very ripe & utterly quaffable. This is a lovely wine with terrific ripeness, oodles of fruit & an impressive finish.
Cabernet Sauvignon vdp 2019 - Domaine Martinolles (Languedoc)
Succulent red berry, cerise and bright cherry fruit fondue. Not baked, burnt or jammy! Supple, fresh and soft; with a lovely Cab Sauvignon fruit core. Riper than a Bordeaux equivalent, though without the Bordeaux soil dimension for sure. Typical varietal fruit character and expression. Simple, easy, lovely & great with red meats, pasta dishes or game.
Frappato DOC 2016 - Alcesti Srl (Sicily)
Frappato is an indigenous grape variety on the island of Sicily. It is Sicily's Pinot Noir equivalent; almost! The texture & style are quite similar. It is a cherry-coloured, aromatic wine. It is light bodied and somewhat low in tannin. Earthy nuances, herb flavours and just the slightest hint of coriander on the finish. In warm weather you can drink this wine slightly chilled. Lovely fruit.
Chateau Calon, Montagne Saint-Emilion 2014 - Noel Boidron (Montagne St-Emilion)
Made from 80% Merlot, 15% Cabernet sauvignon and 5% Cabernet Franc. Deep, dark, red robe with purple hues. Lovely palate - ample, sappy, soft and generous. Juicy and yummy with dark fruits, menthol and violets. The wine is generous and vibrant, with a broad mid-palate that suggests sweet blackberry preserves, nutmeg, allspice and cocoa. Exhibits layers of supple, resolving tannins and fresh, vibrant minerality. Drinking perfectly
le 50/50 AC 2018 - Domaine Anne Gros / Jean-Paul Tollot (Minervois)
This is Anne & Jean-Paul's first Minervois wine - a 50/50 enterprise. Southern French spirit, Burgundian soul. The partnership of Burgundian winemakers Anne Gros and Jean-Paul Tollot in the Minervois sets a new standard for quality and character in the Languedoc. Finesse and precision are the two main characteristics of this Minervois — words more often used to describe Gros’ Burgundian crus rather than the concentrated reds of the south. Gros has for decades headed her own estate Vosne-Romanée; her partner, Jean-Paul, hails from the family estate of Tollot-Beaut in Chorey-lès-Beaune. The pair wanted to make wine together, but the question was where—and the search, over a few years, brought them to the high-altitude hills of Minervois. The region’s varied terroir, cooler heights and very old vines offered just the combination they wanted, for wines that speak of both the sun and of silk in every sip.
